Greater Mankato Area United Way offers a variety of volunteer opportunities year-round. We host various United Way events and projects.

Help Greater Mankato Area United Way hand out free books to area children as they come through our Trunk-o-Treat vehicle inside the Snell Motors showroom!

Shifts Available:

Trunk or Treat #1: 1:45-3:30 p.m.

Trunk or Treat #2: 3:15-5:15 p.m.

Trunk or Treat #3: 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Reading Festival

United Way's annual Reading Festival is a FREE event is sponsored by Capstone and hosted by the Mankato YMCA in the Blue Gym. We partner with other local organizations to promote literacy and celebrate reading through an “expo style” event. Kids and families had a blast participating in the activities provided by the different organizations.

Fire & Ice Ball

Get involved with our largest fundraiser of the year: the Fire & Ice Ball! This black-tie gala raises important funds for our programs. We are looking for volunteers throughout the evening to help make this elegant black-tie, red-carpet event a success! The event itself will be 6 p.m. to midnight.

3:00 pm - 12:00 am
Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center

Shifts Include: 

  • Set-up (coat check, candles, table number lights, etc.)

  • Champagne Pourer

  • Coat Check

  • Ushers

  • Games Volunteers

  • Late night snacks/food

  • Teardown

Contact us if you are interesting in volunteering for a fundraising opportunity benefiting Greater Mankato Area United Way!

Through a partnership with Associated Finishing in Mankato, we are looking for volunteers ages 16+ to help with four-step, piece-work assembly process at Associated Finishing’s warehouse space (601 Mathews St. Mankato).

For every piece volunteers complete, Associated Finishing will donate to Greater Mankato Area United Way!

  • No skill needed—volunteers will each attach a piece to make the finished part!
  • Minimum of 5 per group with a maximum of 12 per group.
  • Days and times are flexible.
  • Must be 16 or older to volunteer.
