United Way Offers Community Impact Opportunities

Nonprofit applications for funding available soon. Volunteers sought for funding review.

MANKATO—Greater Mankato Area United Way will soon begin the review process for 2022 funding.
United Way’s annual community-led review process determines the distribution of campaign funds and ensures donor dollars are used efficiently.

Nonprofits that offer programming in the areas of basic needs, health and education and serve residents in Blue Earth, Le Sueur, Nicollet and Waseca counties may apply for United Way funding. Agencies receiving funding must apply each year.

United Way also seeks volunteers to participate on the review teams. Each spring, more than 80 community impact volunteers review funding applications, interview agencies and recommend the best allocation of the following year’s funds. Each volunteer dedicates 10 to 12 hours between March and May.

For information about applying for funding or volunteering on an impact team, please contact United Way’s community impact director Elizabeth Harstad at ElizabethH@mankatounitedway.org by February 1.

The 2022 campaign will officially begin fundraising in August 2021.

Greater Mankato Area United Way is currently looking to hit its 2021 campaign goal of $2,060,000 to fund 56 programs within 36 agencies. United Way programs serve more than 51,000 people each year in the four-county area through basic needs, health and education. Learn more at www.MankatoUnitedWay.org.
