United Way Hosts Virtual Thank You Week Feb. 15-19
Awards and recognition featured on United Way’s social media
MANKATO—Greater Mankato Area United Way’s annual Thank You Event recognizing its volunteers is going virtual the week of February 15 through 19.
Normally held as a luncheon and awards presentation, the event will instead be a weeklong virtual celebration of the organization’s volunteers from the past year.
The public is invited to visit Greater Mankato Area United Way’s Facebook [@GMAUW] and Instagram [@GMAUnitedWay] pages throughout the week for video highlights, interviews and awards recognizing standout volunteers, all hosted by 2021 campaign chair Jessica Blais and United Way CEO Barb Kaus.

“More than 1,000 volunteers dedicate their time to Greater Mankato Area United Way each year,” said Kaus. “With such a small staff, United Way relies on volunteers to accomplish our mission of improving the lives of those in need. We value the opportunity to thank our volunteers for their hard work and passion for keeping our region strong.”
Kaus and Blais credited volunteers with helping Greater Mankato Area United Way adapt to the unique challenges brought by COVID-19 and supporting United Way in reaching its campaign goal of $2,060,000 for its 56 programs.
United Way announced it reached the goal earlier this week.
In a video statement to volunteers, Blais said: “You stepped up to the challenge as we adapted to provide emergency funding, fill new volunteer needs, hold our annual funding review process, distribute food, package books, plan safe fundraising events, and so much more.”
