United Way Kicks Off 2018 Campaign with Tug of War

MANKATO—We pull stronger united.

 

United Way’s 2018 Campaign Kickoff will take place 12 to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16 on Veterans Memorial Bridge.

 

The public is invited to this free kickoff event, which features tug-of-war contests between Mankato and North Mankato businesses and organizations.

 

Free lunch provided by Subway. A brief program begins at noon in the middle of the bridge, followed by tug-of-war.

 

“This ultimate tug-of-war on the bridge showcases how working together helps ensure our region stays strong,” said United Way CEO Barb Kaus. “We are grateful to have such fantastic support from both cities for this event.”

 

North Mankato-bound lanes will be closed to traffic for the kickoff. Attendees parking in Mankato may use the Brennan lot on Riverfront Drive (old Embers lot). Those parking in North Mankato may use the public lot located at the corner of Wheeler and Wall streets.
