MANKATO—The battles were hard fought, but one city came out the winner.
The City of North Mankato was victorious in United Way’s 2018 Campaign Kickoff Tug of War Showdown on Wednesday at the Verizon Center.
The traveling trophy will be presented to the North Mankato City Council at its meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, August 21 at the North Mankato City Hall Municipal Building. Media are welcome to attend.
More than 20 teams competed in the Tug of War, representing either Mankato or North Mankato businesses and organizations.
Contests included City of Mankato mayor vs. City of North Mankato mayor; MNSU-Mankato vs. South Central College; Frandsen Bank vs. Community Bank; Mayo vs. Mankato Clinic; Taylor Corp vs. Eide Bailly; Mankato Fire vs. North Mankato Fire; and more.
The Tug of War helped kick off United Way’s 2018 campaign, which will support 57 programs within 37 agencies in the region. The friendly contests underscored the power of the community in pulling together.
