Greater Mankato Area United Way Honors Volunteers

Greater Mankato Area United Way held its annual Thank You event Friday, Feb. 19 to honor its volunteers from the past year. More than 100 people attended the luncheon and awards ceremony at South Central College. The event was sponsored by Kay Wallerich Consulting.

Volunteers were an essential factor in United Way surpassing its $1.95 million campaign goal for 2016. CEO Barb Kaus thanked committee members, partner nonprofits, in-kind supporters, employee campaign leaders, board members and other volunteers for their role in the campaign.

“We had many successful employee rallies, including several that were brand new, in addition to new events, new sponsors, new and increased corporate gifts and great volunteers,” Kaus said. “All of these things combined made for a successful campaign. We were able to not only fulfill funding to 51 programs within 32 nonprofit partner agencies underneath our umbrella, but also to give increased funding to help those in need.”
