MANKATO—The businesses of the Eastwood Industrial Park are gearing up for a block party event from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28 at the Greater Mankato Business Development parking lot, with proceeds to benefit United Way.
According to planning committee member Becky Cromwell of Bolton & Menk, Inc.: “The idea for this block party was to collaborate with the businesses in the area on a fun event that allowed us to meet each other, have a good time and raise money for a good cause. Many of the businesses in the Industrial Park support United Way with their own employee rallies. Holding this event during the fall United Way campaign seemed like the perfect fit.”
Dollars for United Way are being generated from business sponsors, food sales proceeds and dunk tank ticket sales. The dunk tank runs from 11:15 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring the top executives of some companies as well as the “winners” of other companies’ internal penny wars.
“We are continually amazed at the creativity and generosity of the businesses in our area,” said United Way CEO Barb Kaus. “They are willing to go the extra mile to get more people involved and spread the word about the importance of keeping our region strong.”
Event Sponsors: AgStar Financial Services, Associates in Oral & Maxiollofacial Surgery, Bolton & Menk, Coldwell Banker Commercial Fisher Group, Eide Bailly, Farrish Johnson Law Office, Greater Mankato Growth, Pepsi, Robert W. Carlstrom Co., Verizon
United Way’s 2017 campaign goal is $2,000,000. United Way is supporting 60 programs within 37 agencies in Blue Earth, Le Sueur, Nicollet and Waseca counties.
