People to Jobs- Provides employment related transportation for single parents, immigrants and other low-income workers.
· 68 local employers continued to have a strong workforce because of the rides their employees received to work
· 9,250 rides (worth $9,250) were provided to 144 adult community members and 44 of their children to help them continue their education, obtain their GED, attend work skills training classes and ELL classes at Lincoln Community Center
Volunteer Care-giving– Assists older adults and people with disabilities, long-term health needs or difficult life situations. Volunteers provide help with transportation, chores, caregiver support services and friendly visits to promote independence and quality of life.
· 85% of seniors served were at risk for nursing home placement, but because of United Way funding, family caregivers received professional volunteer support and these seniors will remain in their home in the coming year
Summit Center- Provides senior programming that addresses the six areas of healthy aging defined by the National Wellness Institute and incorporates numerous existing VINE programs, such as exercise and caregiver support. The Summit Center is located at 518 S. 5th St. in downtown Mankato.
· Summit Center Hot Meals on Wheels volunteers contributed 2,600 hours of their time (worth $55,016) and delivered 9,324 hot noon meals to 78 homebound community members
· Senior volunteers will contribute at least 8,500 hours of their time in 2011 to improve the quality of life of people in the Greater Mankato Area
